19 special counter-terror units established in eight terror hit districts of Jammu

Srinagar, Aug 15 (KS):- In a decisive move to counter the escalating terrorism in Jammu, the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced the establishment of 19 special counterterrorism units.

These units, each headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP), have been strategically placed across eight districts that have been particularly affected by recent terrorist activities.

The districts where these units have been deployed include Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, and Poonch.

These areas encompass some of the most vulnerable locations, such as the Pir Panjal and Chenab mountain ranges, which have seen a resurgence in terrorist incidents.

The specific areas covered by these new units are Udhampur District: Latti, Panchari, Kathua District: Malhar, Bani, Reasi District: Pouni/Ransoo, Mahore/Chassana, Gulabgarh, Passana, Doda District: Dessa/Kastigarh, Assar
Kishtwar District: Dachhan, Drabshalla,
Ramban District: Ramsoo, Chanderkote/Batote, Sangaldan/Dharamkund, Rajouri District: Kalakote, Poonch District: Baffliaz/Behramgalla, Mandi/Loran and Gursai.

These units will operate in close coordination with other security forces, focusing primarily on counterterrorism efforts while also handling routine crime in their respective jurisdictions.

The establishment of these units underscores the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s commitment to addressing the fresh wave of terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the region.
