Srinagar, Aug 19 (KS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah has voiced concerns over the ongoing unemployment crisis in Jammu and Kashmir, attributing it to fraudulent recruitment processes that have plagued the region.
In a press conference, as per news agency Kashmir Scroll, Abdullah criticized the current administration, highlighting that numerous youths were denied jobs due to corrupt practices in recruitment.
“We all know the unemployment condition in J&K,” Abdullah stated. “There was fraud in the recruitment process, and the youths did not get the jobs they deserved.” His remarks come amid widespread discontent among the youth, who have struggled with joblessness despite various government promises.
Omar Abdullah also outlined his party’s commitments to addressing the unemployment issue if they come to power. “We are making comprehensive promises to the youths and are going to address the unemployment issue,” he said.
His comments reflect the National Conference’s strategy to prioritize employment as a key electoral issue in the upcoming elections.
In addition to addressing unemployment, Abdullah also tackled the pressing issues of water and electricity supply in the region. He promised that under a National Conference government, electricity up to 200 units would be provided free of charge to households. “We will also address the issue of water and electricity and will give electricity free till 200 units,” he announced. This move is likely aimed at alleviating the financial burden on families struggling with rising costs of living.
In a subtle dig at political opponents, Abdullah expressed skepticism about their promises, stating, “Some will promise more, but that’s not beneficial because they are not going to be in power in the future.” His remarks suggest a lack of faith in the electoral promises made by rival parties, further positioning the National Conference as the credible alternative for voters in the region.
The National Conference leader’s statement has sparked discussions across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly among young voters who are eagerly watching how various political parties plan to address their concerns.
