Police foils terror attack by arresting terrorist associate in Pulwama

Investigation underway for further terror connections in the area

Pulwama, 05 Sep (KS): The Pulwama police on Thursday said to have apprehended a terrorist associate and recovered a hand grenade in his possession in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that, the suspect, identified as Arsalan Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Karimabad Pulwama, was detained during a routine Naka checking at Karimabad crossing.

He said during the search, a hand grenade was recovered from the possession of the suspect.

“Investigating revealed that the accused has planned to lob the grenade at the Naka part, posing a serious threat to security forces and Public safety. The timely action by the Pulwama police thwarted the attack, preventing any potential loss of life or injury.” He said.

He said that according a case has been registered under FIR number 182/2024 under section 4/5 explosives act sec 18, 23 of UAPA act in Police station Pulwama.

The investigation has been set into motion and possible links to other terror activities in the area.—(KS)
