Police in Anantnag Seized 950 liters of illicit liquor

Anantnag, 22 Aug(KS): The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have seized approximately 950 liters of Illicit country-made Liquor in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

In a statement issued to news wire Kashmir Scroll, a police spokesperson said “In a decisive operation, Bijbehara Police, acting on a precise tip-off, conducted a successful raid at Pazalpora Bijbehara, near Jadoo Point, leading to the seizure of approximately 950 litres of illicit country-made liquor.”

The operation also uncovered various equipment and materials used in the illegal production process. Two individuals, Azad Singh and Suraj Chohan, originally from Akola, Maharashtra, and currently residing in Pazalpora, Bijbehara, have been arrested, he said.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 168/2024, invoking Section 48 of the Excise Act at Police Station Bijbehara, he added.—(KS)
